Oasis Haven
an oasis.. a haven

Had Popeye for lunch after topping up fuel and washing Dong Fong. Right after, the sky turned dark quickly and I knew it was gonna rain.

It was raining heavily when I went to pick Jasper up. After collecting the food, we went to Sheng Siong to buy drinks and pick Deng Kai up. While waiting, I felt Dong Fong jerk and went out to see. A van had hit it at the back. After ascertaining that there was no obvious damage, I moved Dong Fong to let him reverse out.

The GPS brought us to Xin Ying's condo successfully. I followed her upstairs to put the almond and glanced around her place. The living room and kitchen are small, but there are 5 rooms and a dining area.

Everyone eventually arrived (predictably late) by about 6.15. Our ex form teacher Mdm Pang arrived at about 7.30 with a dozen packets of drinks.

I spent most of the night cooking food. There was quite a spread - satay, chicken wings, chicken chop, sotong, stingray, corn, otah, hotdogs, marshmellows.

Chatted a little with everyone here and there and revealed that I'm in police. The guys sat in the gazebo while the girls sat outside with their own table.

Mdm Pang brought along a book containing our biographies, none of us remember having done it. I was embarrassed when they flipped to my page. Everyone else used colour pens/markers and pasted stickers, while mine.. was printed black text without any colour or pictures.. That's how straight I was, or maybe still am to a certain extent.

Near 10, we took some group photos and then crowded together in a circle to reminisce the past, each of us were to remember something. I mentioned that I fell into the drain in pri 4. When it was Mdm Pang's turn, she said that she remembered scolding me at the last staircase. The fact that she remembers, shows that it had left an impact on her, it had left an impact on me too.

We laughed at all the silly things we had done, or rather they had done. There were some awkward moments of silence but Yen Lin tried to continue the conversations.

Unfortunately, it was time for us to go so we cleared the tables, stacked up the chairs and collected money. Yet another moment of awkward silence as we stood around the table, probably not wanting the gathering to end. I thanked Jasper aloud for organising and we were on our way.

Dong Fong was full as I gave 7 people a ride home. We went all the way to Changi Airport, either the GPS was wrong or I had interpreted it wrongly. I had the charger plugged in but it kept showing low battery, I could only hope that it would last until it showed the way to Pie (Tuas).

I heaved a sigh of relief when I made it to Pie (Tuas), as I knew the way from there. It was only after letting everyone alight and parking Dong Fong, that I realised the charger was in the wrong socket.

After sms-ing a little with Ev and learning that Chui Ying and charis were home safely, I quickly edited the photos before emailing them to everyone and uploading them to facebook.
