Oasis Haven
an oasis.. a haven

Played dota two or three days ago on my good old laptop again (no lag and won that game). One word to describe the feeling.. nostalgic. I bought this laptop in sec 4, Apr 2005. It works fine until now, in fact I'm using it to blog now and I play maple private server on it while watching tv at night. I reformatted it shortly before I bought my desktop. To think I've played so much maple, dota, cabal etc. and done so much work using this laptop.

I remember the time I spilled herbal tea over the keyboard, it was a bottle placed between me and the laptop. Once it happened, I quickly unplugged everything, overturned it and shook it for liquid to come out. Yea there was the feeling of panic as I would have definitely got scolded. Then I used a hair dryer to blow dry it. There were two problems with it following the incident. Half of the screen was slightly a darker shade, it was so unnoticeable that it was my sis who saw it. The other problem was that the shift key stopped working.

Fortunately, it was a few days before the warranty expired (so this occurred nearly a year after it was bought) and they fixed it. Ever since it has been one of my best friends haha..

For all laptops there's a small trigger above the keyboard to turn off the monitor upon sensing that the screen is closed? There was this other incident that there was no display on the screen upon reaching sch while the harddisk and startup sound could be heard. I was like "okay you're leaving already?" So I used the sch comp to get Dell's number and called them. After some troubleshooting we figured out that it was the trigger causing it as it was bent. Oh no.. it's out of warranty!

No.. wait.. the part between the keyboard and screen (where the power button, status lights and key lock lights are) could be taken out! So I did it and ta-da.. the screen was back!
