When I see cats around in the void deck, I'd always try and touch them. Cats seem so.. quiet.. tame.. peaceful.. and cute.. =D
If you wanna touch a cat, reach out your hand and look out carefully for its reaction. If its back is arched and/or claws stretched, then it means you should just leave it alone else you'd end up with scratches. My Bio/Chem teacher in sec sch taught me that touching the back part of the neck tends to calm the person/animal down.. so if it doesn't run away try to stroke its neck first. Some cats don't like being stroked at particular areas such at beneath its mouth or stomach so don't let your guard down.
There was one night after work when I went to the playground to sit and listen to some music and there was a cat. I had my legs crossed and after stroking it, it cuddled itself onto my legs.. so I just sat there for an hour enjoying the music and the scenery..
